A Green Oasis in Sarathangi: The Kudil by Shelter Design Studios

Nestled amidst the lush landscapes of Sarathangi, a charming village near Madurai, lies "The Kudil," a stunning architectural masterpiece by Shelter Design Studios commercial and residential projects. This eco-friendly haven boasts 3137 sq. ft. of harmonious living space, set on a sprawling 1.5-acre plot.

Embracing Nature:

The Kudil's design philosophy is rooted in nature. It seamlessly integrates into the serene surroundings, overlooking mango groves, cashew plantations, and the majestic Western Ghats. This synergy between the environment and architecture results in a home that's not just beautiful but also eco-conscious.

Sustainable Features:

The house incorporates passive strategies and active systems that prioritize environmental sustainability. The entrance, with its natural stone paving, encourages rainwater percolation, replenishing the underground water table. Excess rainwater is channeled into a 30-foot diameter pit cleverly positioned at the lowest point of the sloped terrain.

An expansive central pavilion connects all areas, offering breathtaking valley views. Copious fenestrations flood the rooms with natural light, enhancing the open-plan layout's dynamic appeal. To combat heat retention, sustainable materials and clever ventilation systems allow the breeze to sweep through the structure.

Climate Sensitivity:

The Kudil's construction takes climate into account, with a cooling natural terracotta floor. Natural wood joineries are polished with deck oil, embracing the essence of nature rather than artificial finishes. The mature trees dotting the property were preserved, and exotic varieties were thoughtfully planted along the pathways.

Aesthetic Harmony:

The walls, adorned with stone masonry, are draped in native creeper species, further enhancing the house's ecological blend. The Kudil serves as a testament to aesthetic interiors Shelter Design Studios' commitment to creating spaces that respect, protect, and harmonize with the environment.

In Sarathangi's tranquil embrace, The Kudil stands as a remarkable example of sustainable architecture, where design and nature coexist in perfect equilibrium, setting new standards for eco-conscious living.
